Breathe in San Sebastián this summer

The ‘Breathe San Sebastián’ campaign is aimed at the domestic audience and, with a gentle, emotional and evocative tone, positions San Sebastián as a unique, accessible destination that offers wellbeing, safety, relaxation and quality. It will be expanded to the international audience as travel options become available.

Donostia San Sebastián Tourism is focusing its strategy this summer on the aftermath of the coronavirus health crisis and will seek to encourage locals to rediscover their city and visitors from nearby or the rest of the country to come and enjoy and discover all that San Sebastián has to offer.
The Councillor for Sustainable Tourism, Cristina Lagé, has pointed out that “the pandemic has motivated us to formulate this commitment, which is in line with what is being done in the rest of the country and other countries. It is clear that tourist movements are not going to be particularly significant in the coming months as a result of the coronavirus, so we have to seduce and attract a more local and nearby audience and convince them to enjoy the charms that San Sebastián has to offer this year”.
This campaign is aimed at the national audience and conveys what sets San Sebastián apart from other attractions that potential visitors will encounter… It suggests and evokes, through beautiful images and a narrative based on sensations, in a subtle, emotional and friendly tone, the quality of San Sebastián as a top-class tourist destination and emblem of well-being. An invitation to enjoy the city from a place of wellbeing, calm, peace and tranquillity…
The Donostia San Sebastián Tourism website will showcase special offers that can be purchased online or at the San Sebastián Tourist Office. The campaign will be promoted nationwide through online programmatic advertising (Search, Display, Discovery, YouTube, Facebook & Instagram Ads, etc.) with a reach of over 40 million impressions and through national online press aimed at a targeted audience. The campaign will also be promoted internationally as borders reopen.

With the sponsorship of Banco Sabadell Guipuzcoano, whose philosophy is to support local businesses and initiatives, a new era of public-private collaboration is beginning within Donostia San Sebastián Turismoa in those actions where the brand’s philosophy fits in with the initiative.
In addition to the two campaigns, Donostia San Sebastián Turismoa constantly updates its website and social media with content to inspire potential travellers and encourage San Sebastian residents to enjoy local activities, through mini video clips, experiences on the blog with video and images, suggestions for plans for this summer, 360º panoramic views, reports and recommendations from national and international media about the city, etc.

The Councillor for Tourism, Cristina Lagé, pointed out that “DSS Turismoa remains committed to the main strategic pillars of its Master Plan: quality, sustainability, authenticity and balance, reinforcing its focus on the local, regional and national public ahead of the summer season, and its support for San Sebastian companies linked to the tourism sector, and its 330 associated establishments, to stimulate economic recovery.”
