Donostia-San Sebastian is the city voted fifth top on the European Best Destination 2017 poll organised by European Best Destinations (EBD), the recognised independent European organisation developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe. The competition had the participation of 426,859 voters and Porto was the winning city this year.
Over three weeks, more than 400,000 votes were collected through the www.vote.ebdest.in website, with San Sebastian coming in as the fifth most voted city in the competition organised by European Best Destination 2017, which will promote the 15 finalist cities as quality and trend-setting destinations for a citybreak in 2017. In 2015 the winning city was Bordeaux, in 2016, Zadar, and in 2017, Porto.
The cities to receive most votes were:

2. Milan
3. Gdansk
4. Athens
5. Donostia-San Sebastian
6. Sozopol
7. Vienna
8. Stari Grad
9. Basel
10. Rotterdam
11. Rome
12. Madrid
13. Bonifacio
14. Paris
15. Wild Taiga
In 2016, Donostia-San Sebastian was already one of the cities to receive most votes as best romantic European destination, while La Concha Beach stood out on the list of best European beaches, according to European Best Destinations.
European Best Destinations is a European organisation based in Brussels, developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe, in collaboration with the main tourist offices and the EDEN network. EBD promotes more than 260 European destinations through its website and social media, with more than 3 million visitors and media cover of more than 50 million euros.
